‘Theism’ is the belief in God, especially one God, a personal God. Atheism claims theism is not coherent, meaning that God as a concept is riddled with conflicts, inconsistencies and contradictions. Theists respond with vigor, arguing that God and God’s doctrines are internally consistent. Analytic philosophy is the battleground and there are many skirmishes.
