Thalia Wheatley

Professor, Psychological and Brain Sciences, Dartmouth College

Thalia Wheatley is currently an associate professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Dartmouth College in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. She earned her BA from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MA and PhD from the University of Virginia.

Wheatley’s areas of expertise include neural systems underlying social intelligence, perceiving cues to mind and mental connection, and perceiving emotion in movement and music. She is the Project Investigator at the Dartmouth Social Intelligence Laboratory (Wheatlab), which conducts research on how human beings understand and react to each other, and how human brains evolved to handle the computations underlying social intelligence, as well as two projects examining free will and morality.
