Uziel Awret (1953–2026) was a physicist and philosopher who devoted his career to the study of consciousness.
Born in Israel, he studied physics at the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion), biophysics at Georgetown University, and continental philosophy at George Mason University, later teaching physics at Trinity Washington University.
Awret was widely recognized for his work on the physics of consciousness, developing the “Holographic Correspondence Theory of Consciousness.” He guest-edited several issues of the Journal of Consciousness Studies, including a landmark 2012 issue on the technological singularity and a 2026 issue on “Superpsychism.”
