Naotsugu Tsuchiya is a Professor of Consciousness Science at Monash University whose research focuses on the neural mechanisms underlying consciousness, perception, and subjective experience.

He is internationally known for his work on visual awareness, unconscious processing, and the relationship between brain activity and conscious states. Professor Tsuchiya combines experimental psychology, neuroscience, and computational approaches to investigate how consciousness is supported by underlying physical substrates, such as neural processes. His work has contributed significantly to debates about the nature of consciousness, including empirical tests of leading theories such as Integrated Information Theory.
